Chickweed Ointment

Chickweed Ointment

Twig Chickweed Ointment is a handmade herbal balm for dry, itchy, or irritated skin — made with freshly wildcrafted herbs when in season.

Chickweed has been used on irritated skin for a very long time, and once you've tried it, you'll understand why it is so wonderful.

This ointment is made with three traditionally used skin herbs — chickweed, plantain, and calendula — infused slowly into organic olive oil, then set with local beeswax. When the herbs are in season, I wildcraft them fresh and make the infusions in small batches right here in Lake Macquarie.

This ointment suits people dealing with: Itchy, rashy, or reactive skin. Irritated skin that comes with itch as well as dryness.

FAQ

Can I use this on my kids or baby?
Yes. This ointment is fragrance-free and contains no essential oils, which makes it a gentle option for young and sensitive skin. We'd always suggest a patch test before first use on a baby.

Is it okay for eczema-prone skin?
It's one of the most common reasons people reach for this one. The herbs it contains are traditionally known for their soothing properties on reactive skin. It's a soothing ointment that a lot of people find it helpful as part of their routine.

How often can I apply it?
As often as you need to. There's no upper limit - many people apply it several times a day to help with dryness.

How does this differ from the Calendula Ointment?
The chickweed ointment has a broader herb base (chickweed, plantain, and calendula) and tends to be chosen when itch is the main complaint. The Calendula Ointment is simpler — just calendula — and is the gentlest of the three, particularly good for everyday use and baby skin. See the comparison table above.

How long does a jar last?
That depends entirely on how much you use it and how many people in the house are reaching for it. A 50g jar used daily on one area might last a few weeks to a couple of months.

Does it smell like anything?
Very faintly of olive oil and beeswax with a hint of herbyness. It's not perfumed at all.
